An Update on Nathan
I took four classes, went to maybe four concerts, booked one show, and my band went on relative hiatus last semester, and over the course of those four months, I felt like the world was collapsing on me more than I ever did in my life and my grades slipped and so did my well-being. I woke up nauseous a lot.
This coming semester, I’m taking five classes, have an internship, putting out a zine, putting on two shows, have a punk band, have a techno band and we’re gonna put out a 12” I hope, running a tape label, and with today’s double whammy of absolutely insane news, I already have at least eight shows that I must go to, and I will list them here:
January 20 - A so-far unannounced label party at a club that serves $20 cocktails.
January 28 - Real Estate, Black Dice, The Babies @ K&K
February 9 - Veronica Falls @ MHOW
February 24 - Sharon Van Etten @ MHOW (even though I absolutely adore SVE, I feel like this one’s on the chopping block)
March 23 - WBAR Zine Release Party featuring a bunch of punk bands
April 1 - Wild Flag @ Webster Hall (I’m not going to this bullshit, someone give me another venue to see them at)
April 10 - Black Tambourine, Versus, Small Factory @ The Bell House
April 28 - WBAR-B-Q

This is maybe 75% of all of the nights I will go out this semester, so please plan accordingly. This is also not including the night that Wilco headlines Madison Square Garden, which, you know, I feel it coming. There are also some shows like Moritz Von Oswald and Carl Craig and Francesco Tristano on February 4th which I would really like to see but I honestly feel like it’s just not going to happen. And there’s also Ricardo Villalobos’ first NYC appearance ever or in at least ten years, which will happen at Unsound NYC this year, mark my words. You know, I feel it coming.
I also feel like telling everyone that my radio show will be called Bros 4 Choice this semester, and I will have the sickest lineup of in-studios ever, just you wait. I feel like I will be putting half of the fun I have this semester on tape when WBAR puts out its on-air compilation cassette.
