The Last Three Episodes Of BROS 4 LIFE Ever
Hey sup,
The past semester at WBAR has been pretty crazy. I’ve made new real-life friendships with internet personalities, got blown away by performances by my own best friends’ bands, and also got a day-of text and consequently an amazing in-studio from a friend in college radio/songwriting. After most of these shows, the guests of honor ended up eating and/or cooking with me and my best bro in college radio, (chef) Eli Wald.
Anyway, the next three weeks represent a transition in Nathan’s life, from amateur host of BROS 4 LIFE to an established and respected college radio icon and important figurehead in the New York City musical community. I have joked for some time that I have already achieved this status, but now is when it will actually happen.
This Sunday, December 4th at 4PM, one day after [GOTH PROM 1986 featuring Balam Acab, Leather, Purling Hiss WHICH YOU SHOULD BE GOING TO]:
::: ROOMRUNNER, a new project from Baltimore featuring member(s) of Double Dagger (RIP), is playing an in-studio on Bros 4 Life. Here’s their *fucking sick* EP just released on Fan Death Records: http://roomrunner.bandcamp.com/
====
The following Sunday, December 11th at 4PM, one of my favorite punk bands out of Brooklyn,
::: POP. 1280
will be playing an in-studio. They put out The Grid on Sacred Bones last year, and just put out a new single called “Thirteen Steps”. Listen to “Step into the Grid”, one of my favorite songs of all time, here:
And finally, on Sunday December 18th at 4PM, I’ll be having a year-in-review show, even though I should probably be studying for finals. Some summary of that show should end up here as a year-end list. All of these shows are streamable on WBAR.org.
====
And then there’s next semester. My show, which absolutely will not be called BROS 4 LIFE, already has confirmations for in-studio performances by FORMA, The Men, and almost definitely the most special guest DJ set ever in WBAR’s history, from a legendary indie-dance band who will, for now, remain nameless.
====
Also, WBAR will be putting out a zine next semester, if you’re interested in writing for it you should email me at nalbert721 at the gmail. WBAR is also putting out an in-studio compilation next May, which will include all of these performances, and more (including Dam-Funk).
So many exciting things! None of them having to do with my homework!
Peace,
Nathan
